Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that a side effect of the gamergate stuff is that Comics became extremely left-wing and LGBTQ++-+ in their fanbase as well. Because, again, a lot of the more centrist Old Guard had left. Comic books became sort of hipsterish and "novelty" in a weird way. The same stuff happened with D&D, young people who sought out the game were seeking it out because it was "nerdy" and socially weird. It attracted weird gender-ambiguous fat people. It's okay though, we play ReconQuest instead!
I think in the early days the divide and I agree with you that Pulp was more classic white Americana and the traditional Superheroes of Marvel & DC were more Jewish in nature. I’ve been getting into pulp and adventure stories lately and there’s some great stuff and sword&sorcery/pulp heroes like Solomon Kane and Tarzan are far superior to modern capeshit. But I still have a soft spot for some Marvel and DC characters. The Punisher being one. Green Arrow I know is supposed to be progressive, but he’s got some funny lines. And Superman, Batman, and Spiderman are a pretty good to great.
P.S. On Ditko wanting Peter Parker to be a “right-wing” character. I can actually see that, it’s just something in my gut that says that fits.
Spiderman is goated. Batman is also very right-coded but it wasn't intentional and they've done some work to try and either villainize Batman or change his image in recent years
Batman forever bowing to a hilariously incompetent justice system is left-coded. So what if the Joker has killed thousands of people, just a few more stays in Arkham Asylum will cure him!
Of course, part of the farce is that comics can't afford to kill off their most popular characters. To build an actually interesting superhero world, you'd need a complete tyrant in charge of who lives and dies (but also ensure that characters die with some purpose, GoT nihilism sucks too).
There is a small community of anti-woke indie comic writers and illustrators online who have been very vocal about the decline of the industry but can’t seem for the life of them to make anything successful, they can’t get their shit in stores because only woke people work at comic stores nowadays and they can only sell online to people who allready know about them which isn’t enough to grow any kind of counter-industry
After Endgame the Marvel universe lost all meaning because everything became possible. Marvel itself even recognizes this and started leaning more into fourth wall breaking, which further broke things. Now marvel movies are basically an endless cavalcade of references for fans to point at the screen and soyface over. Eventually they will run out of Stan Lee adjecent content and be doomed, their new writer will never replicate that.

Even for hypothetical Right Wing Comic Artists, I don't know why'd they want to 'save' superhero comics as a genre. It's inherently cringe as a concept. Go make something interesting on Webtoon or whatever the kids read these days.
I've never used it, I just know my girlfriend reads it sometimes. It seems like the super cool artists make their own websites just for their own comics, but I don't read those either
I have checked Webtoon. It's an interesting concept, only problem is that it is saturated with romcoms appealing to the female gaze (not a bad thing, women can have their spaces). If I were to ever upload a comic, it would not be there lol.
As I told a friend of mine a long time ago, the fundamental problem with much of popular culture, comics included, is that most writers and artists lacked a well-rounded background and experience. Most seems to have studied only other comics or movies. It’s vital that one should know some military history, history, strategy, English literature, and so much else. Better if they actually did military service or a wider variety of jobs with different peoples of different backgrounds. These helped to make for a more compelling stories.
>Comic books got hit hard by the “Gamergate Bottleneck”
iirc, there was some sort of "comicgate" when some italian comic book cover artist drew a giant woman with a gyatt and he got proto canceled for it lol
The united states outsourced all their animation know how to japan and south korea to the point they lost it all. Ironically its the same thing happening to Japan today as a lot of anime is outsourced and 2d animation know how its getting lost in the digital age as veterans retire.
The Edward Norton Hulk movie is one of the best superhero movies ever made, and I will die on that hill. It has its share of problems, but it’s a genuinely fun and exciting movie.
I really like Batman Begins, but the other two, especially the Dark Knight is overrated. Though, Heath Ledger did give the performance of a lifetime. Rip
have you ever engaged with critical role? i watched a lot of it because it was free and was tired of music. they have an animated series with 3 seasons.

Batman does this because he’s kind of insane and thinks if he just blows the joker’s head off he’ll start losing it
That's a cute outfit. Did a nigger give it to you?
Hahaha! In all seriousness though, that joke was probably the funniest one in the movie. 👍

Early capeshit cartoons are hilariously pulp. Terribly cheap "animation" and cheese galore. Honestly more entertaining than modern capeshit.

That's an interesting observation.

Webtoon is the most cancerous app of all time, or at least that's what I can surmise from the ads
those gay twink webtoon ads... i remember...
I've never used it, I just know my girlfriend reads it sometimes. It seems like the super cool artists make their own websites just for their own comics, but I don't read those either

There are better hero characters in the pulp world. Like The Shadow, Doc Savage, Zorro, etc.

The Dark Knight trilogy and the first couple Iron Mans were legitimately good movies, before the whole genre became soyified trash.
Dark Knight movies were okay but I think they’re overrated in retrospect. Maybe it’s just because I hate Christopher Nolan nowadays
I really like Batman Begins, but the other two, especially the Dark Knight is overrated. Though, Heath Ledger did give the performance of a lifetime. Rip
Batman Begins was my favorite too. Liam Neeson was the goat: https://youtu.be/uiaRYQlsjy4?si=K8LhbHcLy54HFlP5
The League of Shadows/Assassins were pretty based, not gonna lie.
