Took a girl to see the first one in 2018, never saw the ending because a fight broke out in the theater and we had to evacuate and wheel this guy out on a stretcher
"Oh yeah, and on that topic, why the fuck is a hyper-advanced society still deciding its leader by combat? What is this fucking Madagascar 2 bullshit?"
Deciding your leader by combat isn't a bad thing, it's a great way to have your country ruled by a warrior and not some pushover. I was actually thinking of a new type of government where the military elite, church elite & feudal nobility fight in a boxing tournament to become the next dictator of a country
This leadership-by-combat thing shows up all the time in sci-fi and fantasy, as in Dune, for example. The weird thing is, sci-fi writers are constantly lifting real events and adapting them. Rorke’s Drift in Spaaaaace! But no human society ever has routinely done this. Not even hunter-gatherers. In every traditional human society, the leaders are old men who would almost certainly lose in a fight to the warrior who is 23.
Isnt it more yoruba and mandenka? Its funny how hausa and the other herder groups up north still kidnap them for ransoming.
>Europe’s rise began before colonialism, but that is a conversation for another time.
Are you hinting at the commercial revolution mayhaps... I have genuinely never met another person online who knows of this event for some reason, the book "The Commercial Revolution of the Middle Ages, 950–1350" is the best there is on this
>They imply in the MCU that Tony Stark’s technology is inferior to Wakandan technology, but Tony Stark actually uses his technology effectively while Wakandans don’t.

Well that’s kind of like how the movie ended except the guy who got wheeled out died, so you’re not missing much

I can’t hate this movie because I saw it with my ex on our first date where we held hands for the entire movie’s runtime
