Good post!

On the question about Invincible,

Mark is not mixed race in the comics, and Kirkman has said the show is an alt-universe in that sense.

As I commented on ifunny, the purpose of "evil superman" tropes is to show that it is evil to view yourself as better than others, even if you actually are. Basic left wing egalitarian rhetoric. This is what makes "good superman" "good" to the liberals that invented him. He's practically almighty but still preaches equality, and doesn't have an ego. Contrast to Conan the Barbarian where Conan is mighty and actually acts like it. He wasn't written by a liberal so he is portrayed as good. Conan and 'Evil Superman' are the same character, presented from different prospectives

The Fleischer era Superman cartoons are some of the best stuff in this entire genre.

Beautifully animated and designed with a budget of $50k per episode (in the 40s) they look exceptional and revolutionized visual effects.

Plus Superman fights the Japanese and jungle cannibals both depicted exactly as you would expect in 1941 and the series was an inspiration for the original Godzilla.

Overall the least pozzed stuff of the whole genre.

The Boys is a jumbled mess of several shitty social commentaries but at its core is just another Jewish revenge porn. Homelander is an allegory for Trump, and I think that Supes are an allegory for white people and non-supes are an allegory for non-whites. I imagine Homelander’s fanatic supporters like MM’s wife’s boyfriend Todd are supposed to represent non-whites who foolishly support Trump and therefore their own demise.

Also I think it’s laughable that Vought, which is supposed to be a stand in for Fox News, is a pharmaceutical company when the IRL networks that were sponsored by Pfizer were CNN and MSNBC

I fell in love with comics because I love the art of storytelling more than the heroes. I also find the superheroes, while fun, to be stupidly unrealistic. How many times can Joker kill before everyone said, “Ok, enough.” This eternal cycle violates the rule of a good story that it must have an end as well as beginning and middle, otherwise, the character will never change and matured. My favorite was Teen Titans because I was more interested in how people relates to each other as both a team and as personalities. Craft of story and art was more important to me and would buy only to study art. Same with cartoons. I much prefer Loony Tunes over modern cartoons. I really hate Simpsons and Family Guy.
