I'd be interested to hear more about the mass of medievalists being libs. I always thought they would've kept away from it with stuff like le Dark Age hole and adjacent associations between SCIENCE! and Christendom. If I'm not mistaken you (or someone else, idunno) mentioned in a textpost a while back that leftists just like going into high-prestige studies and shitting on their subject-matters with revisionism, so if u b speakin 🗣️ dat True ☝️ it could just be another instance of that tendency.
It’s because libs like status and medieval studies sounds very high status and preppy to them. But at the same time it doesn’t seem as stereotypically elitist as classicism
The reformation saved Europe from Aristotelian scholastic retardation and brought living faith into Christianity again. And you seem to be confused with Judaism as a religion, catholicism is more related with its legalistic traditions similar to that of the Pharisees and modern jews than Protestantism is. Annually sacrificing a chicken covered in feces that’s been stuffed with other chickens creating jewish Ebola is the same ethos Catholics have when they created no meat on fridays so they could make money off the filet o fish. Hail Luther.
Here we go again with the “Catholics are like Pharisees” stuff. How so? Okay, I guess Jews have some weird rituals, but keep in mind a lot of the weird spiritual stuff is from Hasidics who don’t represent Postclassical Judaism. Jews don’t have a “Church”, they have a loose network of Rabbis just like Protestant denominations. Maybe you could say the Talmud is like a catechism, but the Talmud is already complete. The catechism is part of an ongoing institution. Jews and Protestants are both wordcels
Both religions, catholicism and Judaism have these retarding legalistic traditions also found in the oriental world. The ethos of basically “I can outsmart literally God” I believe there is a section in the Talmud about a rabbi who beats God in an argument over legality. The same can be found in catholicism with the knee jerk reaction to Luther positively stating that Justification is by works alone and not faith in God at the council of Trent. Mohammedans do the same thing, they all have this disgusting bug people points based religion, if you say “bismallah” before eating your sins are forgiven or whatever. It is very pagan I understand this. It’s just not Christian, or “Protestant” according to the gospels. I just appreciate the faith of Christ and it’s rejection of these silly points based religions. Read the bleppsama Substack he is more concise than I am with the fundamental issues. Most jews who aren’t ultra orthodox are just atheists anyways, and the few who aren’t are legalistic just as well!
Jewish/Islamic “outsmarting god” involves lawyering with scripture. Not the same as Catholic theologians trying to logicize Christianity. You’re gonna have to clarify what you mean by legalistic as it can mean two opposing things. To me, scholasticism is not legalistic since it is an interpretation of Christianity aided by heavy outside philosophical introspection. Legalistic to me, hinting at written codified law, implies something based on interpretation of scripture
When I mean legalistic I mean a faith that believes in works based salvations and using rituals to help themselves. Scholasticism just leads to more ways of legalism like the invention of purgatory and pretending as if there is a big ledger in the sky that counts your good and bad deeds. It’s just so repulsive to my autistic ass.
Like I said, I’m not trying to shit on Protestantism. If I ever became Christian, I might become Protestant, but from an outside perspective it’s clearly more like Judaism and Islam in its heavy focus on interpretation of scripture and faith in revelation
P.S. I’m not trying to shit on Protestantism or Baroque. I like Baroque and Renaissance equally.
Judaizing is when you believe in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation
Did you efen read my post bubby wubby or did you just skim over it
Beyond "just skimming over it," I actually did not read anything except for the subtitle.
Well… Consider reading the post… Despite the subtitle a lot of Protestants will enjoy it
Astute observation. The history of Christianity as the peoples who became Christians seems to be:
Jews/Hebrews . Hellenes . Romans . Germans and Franks . Others.
So to reject Catholicism and go back the the Jews/Hebrews root is Protestantism, IMO.

That is a weird thing to call legalist.
I need to go... FIND SOME JORDAN CANONICAL BASES!!! *runs off*
I was always under the impression that Calvinists were not into philosophical arguments about the nature of God/le world
https://open.substack.com/pub/hussitegaming/p/on-nominalism?r=2thdsc&utm_medium=ios I suggest reading this for further information on what Protestantism really is. Instead of shiny pagan papacy is Le epic cool third world negroidisms.
